An interesting note, in photos no.4 and 5, taken from Washington St. of what was the old Tamaqua engine facilities, if you travel slowly enough on Rt. 309 south through the town you can observe the tar patches embedded in the roadway where the old leads ran into the engine shed and turntable. Odd how in some respects time stood still in coal country.
There are lots of places where you can still see signs of what once was throughout the region. For the modeler in me, I like that because I can see what is there now and a hint of what was there.
